Common questions

Questions, answered.

How much power does it draw?

Roughly 4–6 watts per sqm in the clear (powered) state, zero in frosted (off) state. A 100sqft partition uses about 0.5kWh per day if kept clear 8 hrs — under ₹4 a day.

What happens if the power goes out?

Glass goes to frosted state by default. (PDLC = liquid crystal scatter without voltage.) Most clients see this as a feature — privacy by default. Optional 12V battery backup keeps clear state for 2 hours.

Can I integrate with Alexa / Google Home?

Yes — included as standard. Each panel is a "scene" you can voice-trigger. We also support Apple HomeKit, IFTTT, and a REST API for custom integrations.

Will the film yellow over time?

PDLC film is optically clear at install (VLT 78%). Over 10 years it shifts to ~73% VLT — a barely perceptible change. We replace any panel that drops below 70% under our warranty.

How does it compare to electrochromic glass?

Electrochromic switches slowly (5+ minutes) and is mostly for tinting (not privacy). PDLC switches in milliseconds and is for privacy. Different tools — most residential / office privacy needs are PDLC. We do electrochromic on dedicated spec.

Bathroom use — does it actually survive humidity?

Yes — our IP65 driver and edge-sealed PDLC laminated has run 4+ years in 25 bathroom installs without a failure. The driver is in a separate ceiling cavity, not in the wet zone itself.
