What commercial glazing costs

Indicative ranges aggregated from Glassy’s published city pages. Commercial glazing is priced on the system, the height, the access and the performance specified, so treat these as orientation for a budget — not a quotation. Indicative ranges last reviewed June 2026.

Before you appoint a facade contractor

  1. Separate the glass spec from the systemCurtain wall, structural silicone glazing and spider-fitted glazing are different systems that can carry the same glass. Fix the performance first — thermal, acoustic, safety — then choose the system that delivers it.Glass types compared
  2. Ask for the wind load the design was checked againstFacade glass is sized against a design wind pressure that depends on the city, the terrain and the height. A quote with no stated pressure has not been engineered — it has been priced.Wind load calculator
  3. Confirm the DGU spacer and edge sealMost insulated-unit failures are edge-seal failures, showing as fogging inside the cavity years later. Get the spacer type and the warranty term written down; they are the difference between a ten-year unit and a three-year one.
  4. Price access as its own lineAbove a few floors, installation means a cradle, a mast climber or a crane slot. That cost belongs on the quote explicitly, because it varies more between contractors than the glass does.
  5. Check who carries the performance guaranteeThe glass maker warrants the unit, the system supplier warrants the framing, and the installer warrants the workmanship. Find out which of the three answers the phone when a panel fogs.Indian glass standards

What builders and facility teams ask first

What does structural glazing cost per sq ft in India?

Structural glazing runs roughly ₹350–₹1,500 per sq ft across Glassy’s published city pages, covering the glass and the glazing system. It excludes access equipment, which on a tall elevation can be a material part of the installed cost and should be quoted as its own line.

What is the difference between curtain wall and structural glazing?

Curtain wall is the non-load-bearing envelope hung off the structure; structural glazing is a way of fixing glass into it so that no frame is visible from outside, using structural silicone or bolted fittings. One is the wall, the other is how the glass is held in it.

How much do insulated glass units cost in India?

Double glazed insulated units run roughly ₹130–₹650 per sq ft across Glassy’s published city pages. The range is wide because it spans a plain clear-air-clear unit and a high-performance low-E unit with an argon fill, which look similar and perform very differently.

Who supplies commercial glass in India?

Processors and fabricators, rather than retail glass shops. Glassy lists 980 manufacturers and profile fabricators alongside 7,443 glass shops, and the manufacturer listings are where commercial volume is usually sourced.

Is spandrel glass different from vision glass?

Yes — vision glass is what you see through, and spandrel is the opaque band that hides the floor slab and services between storeys. They are made to look continuous from outside, but the spandrel panel is typically back-painted or ceramic-fritted and is not a window.

Does commercial glazing need laminated glass?

Wherever a fall from height or overhead breakage is possible — balustrades, overhead glazing, atrium roofs — laminated is the spec, because it holds together on its interlayer instead of falling out of the opening. IS 16231 and the NBC set out the critical locations.
