Questions, answered.
Walkable glass — is it actually safe to step on?
Yes. 21.52mm tri-laminated SGP is rated for 5kPa live load + 3kN point load (a person jumping). Anti-slip ceramic frit gives traction. We have walkable installs across 18 projects, none with glass damage in 5+ years.
Will it leak after 5 years?
Leak risk is in the joinery, not the glass. We use Dow Corning 791 structural silicone (rated 50 years) at all joints, and our 7-year warranty covers leaks from any cause not user-impact. We have zero post-warranty leak claims to date.
How does the room not get hot in summer?
For sun-exposed installs we default to solar-control low-E DGU — SHGC 0.20 means 80% of solar heat is rejected. The room stays cool while the glass admits 65% visible light. Plain DGU runs SHGC 0.5 — fine for north faces only.
How heavy is glass overhead — can my structure take it?
Laminated DGU runs 60–75 kg/m². RCC or steel structure handles this easily. We coordinate with your structural engineer; if the existing slab won’t take the dead load, we add a steel sub-frame.
Cleaning glass overhead — how?
Internal access via cherry picker or rope-access for residential, internal scaffolding for atriums. We supply a hydrophobic nano-coat option (₹140/sqft) that cuts cleaning frequency to once a year.
Birds flying into the glass?
Bird-safe frit (UV-visible to birds, not humans) is available — ₹220/sqft surcharge. We recommend it for atrium glass facing tree lines.
